President of Bulgaria Iliana Iotova met Metropolitan of Plovdiv

Metropolitan Nikolay of Plovdiv received President of Bulgarian Iliana Iotova and vice-presidential candidate Kiril Valchev on Saturday, October 10, at the new Metropolitan Residence in Plovdiv.

During the meeting, the Metropolitan welcomed the visitors and presented them with copies of the Holy Bible and icons of Christ and the Virgin Mary, wishing them success in their public duties.

The meeting was attended by Bishops Polikarp of Belogradchik and Visarion of Smolyan, auxiliary bishops of the Metropolitanate of Plovdiv, as well as several clergy members and former Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev.

Metropolitan Nikolay showed the visitors the newly built Church of the Holy Archangels in Plovdiv and briefed them on the history of the diocese, its religious life, educational and cultural initiatives, charitable activities, and church construction projects.

For her part, President Iotova expressed her respect for Metropolitan Nikolay and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, reaffirming her willingness to support its work within the scope of her responsibilities.

At the conclusion of the visit, she thanked the Metropolitan for his hospitality and blessing.
