The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, thanked in Romanian the Romanian firefighters who are helping to put out the fires in the south of France.

The message was posted on the official account on a social network of the head of state. "Thank you, Romania," wrote President Emmanuel Macron.

The Romanian firefighters moved to France in mid-July and will soon be replaced by another Romanian contingent, which is to operate in the area for another two weeks. Firefighting efforts are being hampered by high temperatures, strong winds and dry weather.

Romanian firefighters patrol the affected areas including at night. It is currently in the Var department, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. To ensure continuity, they operate in two shifts, so that the crews are constantly ready to respond to requests from the field.
