When the Clock Strikes, We Pray Together

November 8, 2026 · 1 min read

As we gather in the quiet hours of evening, the ancient practice of praying together at a single agreed moment calls to us once more. Rooted in the Lord’s promise in Matthew 18:19, where He says, “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven,” this simple yet profound rhythm of communal prayer has sustained the faithful for centuries.

Tonight, the global “Universal Prayer for Peace” group invites all who seek the Lord’s mercy to join them at 21:00 UTC. You need only be present in spirit, knowing you are united with brothers and sisters across the globe, lifting the same petition to the Throne of Grace. Each active group, including this one, maintains a sacred list of names—those who are sick, the departed, and all in need of our intercession—and receives a gentle reminder just before the appointed hour.

Currently, Orthodox House Social hosts ten vibrant prayer groups, each a living testament to our shared faith. We warmly invite you to create a group for your own parish, diocese, or beloved community. This is the Church in action—her sons and daughters lifting one voice, one heart, at the hour agreed upon.

Feel the warmth of this ancient practice. Join us tonight, or take the step to form your own circle of prayer. Visit the Prayers section to find the current schedule, add your loved ones to the commemoration list, and discover the strength that comes when we pray together. The clock is striking; the Lord awaits our united voice.
