The parish of the Church in Honor of the Transfiguration of the Most Holy Cross Lord, located in the Mitino district, is considering transferring the temporary wooden church to Don Caves Monastery after the new stone church has been built.

According to Deputy of the State Duma of Russia Vladimir Resin, who is the curator of the Program for Construction of Orthodox Churches in Moscow ("Program 200"), the works on the new wooden church have been completed. On March 21, 2026, Bishop Sava of Zelenograd consecrated its small dedication, reports the press service of the parliamentarian.

"We have completed work on the wooden church and installed the iconostasis. Currently, together with Bishop Sava, we are considering the possibility of transferring the temporary church to Don Caves Monastery," said Deputy Vladimir Resin.

Preparations for the construction of a substantial stone church capable of seating at least 500 people continue at the parish.

The future church will visually echo the Trinity Cathedral of Trinity-Sergius Lavra and the Church of the Saviour in Andronikov Monastery. The stone church is being designed with one underground and two above-ground floors. Its style is based on Russian architecture from the 16th to 17th centuries.
