Visit by His Eminence Gabriel, Archbishop of Montreal and Canada to the community in the name of the Icon of the Mother of God “Vladimir” (Quebec City, Quebec)translated

September 16, 2026 · 1 min read

On Sunday, September 6/August 30, on the eve of the day when the Church celebrates the day of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, His Eminence Vladyka Gabriel led the Divine Liturgy in the church of the newly created community bearing the name of this miraculous icon, so important for the history of our Fatherland. Concelebrating with the Ruling Bishop was the rector of the community, Archpriest Valery Chemsky, a priest of St. Nicholas Cathedral (Montreal, Quebec), with the protodeacon of this cathedral Boris Sidorenko. The parish choir under the direction of the cathedral regent Mikhail Aleksandrovich Voinovsky-Krieger sounded gracefully and prayerfully. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, those present were invited to a festive meal, at which the clergy and parishioners continued communication with their Archpastor.

This year the Vladimir community celebrates its third anniversary, and the Archpastoral visit has become an important and joyful event in its life.
