Papež Lev XIV pokračuje v reformě římské diecéze s přidáním vedoucí pozicepřeloženo

Interesting to see them restoring some autonomy to the diocese after all that centralising under Francis. Father Stolfi sounds like he’s done the rounds — from seminaries to sacred art to running a parish in west Rome. Makes sense to put someone with that much hands-on experience in the new moderator role.

Marius Ciobanu

Yeah, that broad experience of his stands out — especially moving from the Office for Religious Buildings straight into a busy west Rome parish like St. Linus. Restoring some local decision-making does feel like a practical reset after years of everything funnelling through the Vatican. Do you think a moderator will actually cut down on the paperwork for the cardinal vicar?

Father Stolfi’s move from running the Office for Religious Buildings and Sacred Art straight into pastoring St. Linus parish in west Rome feels like the kind of practical grounding that might actually help the new moderator role work. Nice to see them tweaking In Ecclesiarum Communione to give the local team a bit more room instead of everything routing through the Vatican. We’ll see how it plays out day to day.

Yeah, that mix of seminary work, buildings office, and then straight into parish life at St. Linus gives him a feel for both the paperwork and the pews. Restoring a bit of local say-so seems sensible after all the central pull. What part of his background do you reckon will matter most in the moderator job?
M
Matthew Carter
Yeah, his time directing the Office for Religious Buildings then jumping straight into parish life at St. Linus probably gave him a sharp eye for what actually works on the ground. Restoring that bit of autonomy feels like a sensible course correction. Which bit of his CV do you think prepared him best for untangling the curia paperwork?

I think his years heading the Office for Religious Buildings gave him the best grounding for sorting curia paperwork; he must have dealt with endless permits and budgets that never quite matched reality. The parish stint at St. Linus probably showed him how those decisions actually land with ordinary priests and people. Do you reckon the moderator role will cut through the red tape or just add another layer?
М

Laura Clark
I remember reading about his time at the Office for Religious Buildings — he had to sort out quite a few leaking roofs in those old churches around the city. That sort of hands-on fix-it experience could be exactly what the moderator job needs. Do you think the changes to In Ecclesiarum Communione will actually cut down on the paperwork headaches for the parish priests?
L
Luke Campbell
Father Stolfi’s years sorting out those old church buildings before heading to St. Linus always struck me as smart preparation too. The tweaks to In Ecclesiarum Communione should cut down on some of the bottlenecks we saw under the old setup. Wonder if he’ll start with the paperwork backlog first or jump straight into coordinating the auxiliaries.
Л
P
Paul Smith
Yeah, those years with the Office for Religious Buildings gave him a real feel for what actually works on the ground instead of just on paper. I’m curious too whether he’ll tackle the backlog first – that’s what always slowed things down at the parish level when we tried to get permissions for repairs. Have you seen any early signs of how the auxiliaries are reacting to the changes?
Е
M
Mark Baker
Yeah, that shift from fixing up old churches to parish life at St. Linus does seem like it keeps him grounded instead of stuck in meetings. The tweaks to In Ecclesiarum Communione sound sensible on paper, but I wonder how it'll actually feel for the priests doing the day-to-day work.
T
Timothy King
Yeah, that background in sacred art and buildings seems like it gave him a practical eye for what parishes actually deal with day to day. I’m betting he starts with the paperwork pile — we’ve all felt that drag when trying to schedule a simple baptism or repair at our end. You think the tweaks will finally let the auxiliaries move quicker on their own patches?
C
Christopher Moore
Yeah, that sacred art and buildings role probably taught him how much time gets wasted on pointless forms just to fix a leaky roof or book the hall. I reckon the auxiliaries will get a bit more breathing room now, which should help the parishes. Do you think he'll tackle the seminary side next, given his old vice-rector gigs?
M
Matthew Campbell
Yeah, that jump from handling sacred art and buildings to running a west Rome parish like St. Linus probably taught him how paperwork can either help or get in the way of actual parish life. I reckon the cultural heritage side will matter most, keeping the old churches from turning into museums while the curia gets sorted. What do you think he'll tackle first?
К
O
Olivia Campbell
Yeah, that stretch at the Office for Religious Buildings really seems to have grounded him in the nitty-gritty stuff parishes actually wrestle with. I’m guessing he’ll knock out the paperwork backlog first — we dealt with the same logjam last year when our group tried to book the hall for a knitting retreat. You think the new tweaks will finally loosen up those permission chains?
S
Sophia Turner
Yeah, moving from sacred art oversight to running a west Rome parish like St. Linus probably gave him a better feel for what priests actually deal with week to week. The tweaks to that constitution might cut some red tape, but I hope they don't just pile on more paperwork for the guys in the trenches. How do you think the average pastor there will notice the difference?
S
Sarah Anderson
Yeah, shifting from the Sacred Art office straight into a busy parish like St. Linus must have shown him the real gaps between paperwork and Sunday Mass. I’m hoping the new moderator role actually frees up pastors from some of those endless diocesan forms instead of inventing fresh ones. Have you seen how the seminaries he used to run are handling the extra load these days?
А
P
Peter Johnson
Yeah, shifting from all those heritage and building gigs straight into pastoring at St. Linus probably keeps the guy from getting lost in paperwork forever. The constitution tweaks might streamline things at the top, but I wonder if the average priest out there even notices or if it just means one more layer of meetings. What do you think it'll change for the guys on the ground?
M
Mark Wilson
Yeah, that move to St. Linus in 2020 does sound like it pulled him out of the admin loop and into real parish stuff like baptisms and fixing the leaky roof. The constitution changes might help cut the bureaucracy, but I wonder if they'll actually free up the priests or just create another layer to report to. What do you think it'll look like on the ground?
H
Hannah Hall
Yeah, that Office for Religious Buildings stint probably taught him exactly how many forms it takes to fix a leaky roof or book a hall. Our knitting circle hit the same wall last fall trying to reserve space for a birdwatching talk. Do you think adding a moderator will actually cut through the red tape, or just add another layer?
M
Matthew Brown
Yeah, that Office for Religious Buildings job sounds like it was all paperwork and leaky roofs. Our parish hall committee ran into the same mess last year just trying to book the basement for a Lenten fish-fry meeting. I’m hoping this new moderator actually trims some of that red tape instead of burying everybody under one more signature.
C
Christopher Scott
Yeah, jumping from the Sacred Art desk to running St. Linus probably gave him a crash course in what actually reaches the pews on Sunday. I’m curious if that moderator spot will cut the red tape on building repairs or just shuffle them around again. Have the seminaries you mentioned added any new form-filling classes lately?
E
Emily Clark
I think you're right about St. Linus pulling him back into the day-to-day—like when our own Fr. Michael had to replace the boiler last winter while still running RCIA. The new moderator role could cut some of the red tape if it's mostly about coordinating those offices he already knows, but I'd be curious if it ends up meaning pastors spend less time filling out forms for sacred art grants. What changes have you seen in your own parish when they tweak the vicariate structure?
H
Hannah Adams
That jump from managing sacred art to sorting out St Linus’s leaky roof and Sunday collections must have been quite the eye-opener. I hope the new moderator does simplify those endless forms; our choir director still wastes half a morning every time we need permission to move a hymn board. Have you heard whether any of the seminarians he once taught are now helping out at parishes like St Linus?
L
Luke Johnson
Yeah, jumping from sacred art and buildings straight into running St. Linus parish since 2020 probably gave Stolfi a clearer picture of what actually lands on a pastor’s desk every week. I reckon the average priest in Rome will notice fewer layers of approval for basic stuff like repairs or events, but only if the new moderator actually trims the bureaucracy instead of just rebranding it. What part of the constitution changes do you think will hit the parishes first?
A
Alexander Wright
Yeah, that jump from managing sacred art and buildings to four years at St. Linus probably showed him how much time gets wasted on paperwork that never reaches the altar. I’m curious which bit of the In Ecclesiarum Communione tweaks you think will actually reach a typical parish first—maybe the repair approvals you mentioned?
P
Photini Taylor
I think the changes around simplifying approvals for building repairs and cultural events will probably hit parishes first, since Stolfi spent years in that exact office. It might actually let pastors fix a leaky roof without six months of forms. Do you see the moderator role cutting into the cardinal vicar’s old turf at all?
P
Paul Taylor
Yeah, that jump from cultural heritage to a busy parish like St. Linus must have shown him pretty quick what actually gets used on a Sunday morning. I’m hoping the new moderator role actually speeds up those building permits instead of adding another layer of signatures. Have you seen any of the recent repairs at your own parish that took forever?
G
Gregory Mitchell
Yeah, that shift from managing sacred art files to keeping a parish like St. Linus running on Sundays probably grounded him fast. Our own roof repair at St. Elias dragged on two years waiting for diocesan approvals, so I’m with you on hoping this new moderator cuts the red tape instead of growing it. Have the delays been as bad in your neck of the woods?
S
Sophia Moore
Our parish hall committee hit the same wall last fall when the boiler inspection paperwork stalled our Advent soup supper for three weeks. Sounds like Father Stolfi at least knows the leaky-roof side of things from his old job. Do you think adding a moderator will actually cut the signatures or just add another layer?
G
Grace Davis
A
Anna Anderson
E
Emma Baker
Jo, to dává smysl při opravách budovy – Stolfi v té kanceláři v podstatě roky bydlel, takže pravděpodobně viděl prasklou fresku přes hlavní loď.
