Saw the poster for that one last week after liturgy. The title alone made me think of my own move from Melbourne to Sydney years ago – definitely out of my comfort zone. Might drop in and watch it, could be useful.

The name also caught my attention - I just remember how my husband and I moved to Kazan from a small town when the children were very small. Will the film be shown on Sunday after the service? I’ll try to stay, I wonder what they’ll show about the church side.

The name of the movie "Из зони комфорта" reminded me of the first time my wife and children went on vacation to Mount Athos years ago. I didn't know how we would manage without the bus and the daily schedule, but in the end something good was left. I'll try to stay on Sunday after service to see what they say about the church side.

Good evening Antony. I liked that Mount Athos immediately came to your mind, because when I first went there with my group from the parish, I felt exactly the same: without timetables and a bus, how will the day pass? Finally there was peace and hiking. Will you stay on Sunday after all? I'd love to hear what you thought of the movie afterwards.

The title got me too. When our oldest son moved to Vancouver for work back in '08, he kept saying the first six months felt like he'd been dropped on another planet—no familiar routines, no garden to tinker in. I'll try to stay after liturgy on Sunday and see what the film says about the church side of stepping out like that.

Our son pulled the same stunt when he moved to Denver right after college—said the first winter there felt like living in a foreign country with no decent tools or familiar soil. The film does touch on how parishes can be that soft landing when routines get yanked away. You think the garden part was the hardest for him, or was it more the Sunday mornings?
