“Under the protection of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God”: the Day of National Unity was celebrated in the parishes of the Ekaterinburg diocesetranslated

On the Day of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and the Day of National Unity, November 4, 2026, festive services, religious processions, concerts and educational meetings were held in the parishes of the Ekaterinburg diocese. Adults and children united in prayer, creativity and conversation about what matters most.

A patronal feast took place in the Kazan Church of the Ural capital - a special and joyful day for the entire parish family. The Sunday school children were also preparing for the celebration. On the previous Sunday, an open lesson was held for children on the history of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. The guys watched the film, learned about the veneration of the holy image and talked about why people have been turning to the Most Holy Theotokos in prayer since ancient times, asking for Her help, intercession and consolation.

The history of the holiday “came to life” in children’s drawings and good deeds. The guys made postcards and bookmarks for the holiday fair, on which they placed a story about the history of the Kazan Church, so that parishioners could take with them a piece of holiday joy and learn more about their native church.
