The Mara Gate, built in 1936, and a grape press were restored within the Baia Mare Village Museum, through a project dedicated to the preservation of vernacular heritage.

The two objectives are part of the "S.O.S. Muzeul Baia Mare Village - Conservation and restoration measures of the vernacular architecture heritage" project.

The Mara Gate is made of oak wood and is also known as the "Dăncuș Gate". This was built by Traian Bilțiu-Dăncuş, helped by Gavril Utan from Călinești, and is considered the first Maramures gate with five pillars.

"The gate is provided with a place to rest. Keeping these architectural values ​​in good condition is vital for the transmission of the rich cultural heritage to the younger generations," Monica Mare, director of the institution, told Agerpres.

Restored heritage assets The gate has an inscription on the frontispiece, "To work and silence", and the name of the craftsman and the year of construction are inlaid on the wreath on the gate.

The structure of the gate includes a large gate and a small gate, supported on five pillars, and the roof is made of fir thatch mounted…
