Yes, it would be interesting to know how many people came to Teresva. In our parish, forty people usually gather for such a prayer, especially when the bishop comes. And how is it in Teresva?

The parish in Teresva is small, but the people there are believers, they always try to come when the bishop comes. We also have about 30-40 souls at such prayers, especially if the weather is good. I wonder if Bishop Viktor mentioned something about the ordination itself or just thanked him for 11 years of service?

I was glad to read that Bishop Viktor served the thanksgiving moleben right there in Teresva for his 11th anniversary. Valentina, did he say anything about the consecration itself or was it mostly thanks for the years of service? Our little parish here usually gets around 25-35 on a normal bishop visit too, especially if the weather holds.

Teresva’s people are truly diligent, I’ve been there a couple of times while passing through. And our Vladika Victor briefly remembered at such a prayer service how he received the ordination from Kiev in 2013, and offered encouragement to himself in the first important years. Do you often experience at your parish that after the prayer service people stop drinking tea at once?

It’s true, these figures say a lot about the life of the parishes. At home, in Paris, for an episcopal visit we rarely exceed thirty during the week, even if the bishop is well loved. Do you think that the size of the village or the season plays a big role in Teresva?

Yes, the size of the village must play a role, in Teresva it is very small and everyone knows each other, so even during the week people come more easily. Back home in Provence we see the same thing in the very small towns. And the season? In autumn as now, the work in the fields is finished, perhaps that helps. Do you often have episcopal visits to Paris?

Yes, in Teresva it's really a very small town where everyone meets each other at the grocery store or at the post office, that changes everything for attendance. Back home in Alsace we see a bit of the same thing in the Vosges villages, especially after the harvest. And in Paris, episcopal visits are rarer, right? Oui, à Teresva ça doit être plus simple pour que tout le monde vienne, l’épicerie et la poste servent de vrai point de rencontre. En Alsace c’est pareil dans les petits villages, je me souviens d’une fête paroissiale après les vendanges où on s’est tous retrouvés autour d’un kougelhopf. À Paris par contre, organiser une visite épiscopale doit demander une sacrée logistique, tu as déjà vu ça de près ?

Oui, à Teresva le magasin et la poste font vraiment office de plaque tournante, ça facilite les choses. En Alsace le kougelhopf après les vendanges, ça devait être chaleureux. À Paris j’ai vu une visite épiscopale il y a deux ans à Sainte-Rita, il a fallu bloquer la rue et prévoir des navettes depuis le métro, c’était toute une organisation. Tu y étais souvent pour ces fêtes alsaciennes ?

Pour l’Alsace je ne connais pas, mais ici en Provence après la messe on finit souvent autour d’un farigoule ou d’un gâteau maison. À Paris par contre je n’ai jamais vu une visite épiscopale de près, ça m’intrigue, comment ils gèrent la circulation ?

Oui, à Teresva le magasin et la poste servent vraiment de points de rencontre naturels après la messe, comme chez nous à Paris où tout le monde finit par se croiser au marché. Pour la visite épiscopale, ils ferment simplement la rue principale le temps de la liturgie, c’est discret et sans grand chambardement. Et vous, à Paris, qu’est-ce qui vous intrigue le plus dans ces visites ?

Oui, à Teresva ça doit être pratique, le magasin et la poste juste après la messe. Chez nous à Marseille, après la liturgie à la paroisse, on se retrouve souvent autour d’un café ou d’une part de tarte que j’ai préparée la veille. Ce qui m’intrigue le plus dans ces visites épiscopales, c’est comment l’évêque arrive à parler simplement avec tout le monde sans que ça ait l’air trop officiel. Et toi, tu as déjà assisté à une de ces visites à Paris ?
