Хорошо, что столб восстановили в Алеппо. Симеон Столпник там стоял годами, это место силы. Интересно, как теперь паломники туда добираются после всего, что было.
Dobře, že ten sloup zase stojí. Svatý Simeon tam opravdu vydržel desítky let, to člověka donutí přemýšlet, co všechno vydrží.
It is good that they raised the pillar again in Aleppo. Simeon Stulpnik stood there for 37 years, this is no joke. I wonder what's left of the monastery after all the fighting, has anyone been there recently?
It's good that the pole was erected again in Aleppo. Saint Simeon stayed 37 years as Cyril writes, this is no joke. I wonder if there is anything left of the monastery after so many years of war, maybe one of our pilgrims went recently.
I agree Spyro, 37 years is no joke, it shows how hard the Saint's life was. From what I heard from an acquaintance who went last year, the monastery still has parts of the church standing but it needs a lot of cleaning and support. Do you have any newer information?
Yes, the pillar was restored, and rightly so. I heard that pilgrims now often travel through Damascus, and then by bus or with locals - the road is difficult, but people still go. Have you been there yourself before?
Yes Spyros, 37 years on the pole is a miracle in itself. I heard that two years ago some people from our parish went with a group from Athens and found the monastery full of rubbish but the walls of the church are still holding. When was the last time you thought about going?
No, I haven’t been there myself, but I heard from a driver I know that the road from Damascus is really exhausting - especially the last kilometers on the dirt road. It’s good that at least the pillar is standing again, even if people suffer along the way. Are you planning to go there yourself?
