Folk costumes from the Muscel area will be exhibited at the Romanian Peasant Museumtranslated

A number of 80 folk costumes from the Muscel area, Argeș county, will be exhibited at the Romanian Peasant Museum, between July 23 and August 16.

The exhibition "Muscelul la noi" brings to the public's attention the local folk costume of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Each exhibited piece will be accompanied by a description regarding the specifics of the area, the production techniques and the heritage value of the object.

The opening will take place on Thursday, July 23, from 17:00, in Sala Noua Galerie, with the entrance from Monetăriei street.

Muscelian folk costume The traditional Muscel costume is known for elements such as the borangic scarf and fota, which differentiate it from other popular Romanian costumes. The exhibited pieces are made from materials such as linen, hemp, wool, cotton, borage and silk.

Decorative motifs include the snail, sculpin, geraniums in rows, as well as geometric, floral and vegetal ornaments.

The Port of Muscel has been represented over time in works signed by artists such as Nicolae Grigorescu, Gheorghe Tattarescu, Theodor Aman and Carol Popp de Szathmáry.
