Over 8,400 children and young people from 21 countries discovered Romania through the ARC 2026 camps, organized by the Department for Romanians Abroad (DRP).

According to a press release sent by the institution, the ARC 2026 program took place between June 30 and September 1 in nine consecutive series.

Young Romanians abroad took part in Romanian language, history and geography workshops, activities dedicated to crafts and traditional music, sports competitions, trips and preventive education sessions.

Sounds like those kids got a solid mix of language classes, folk crafts, and hikes around the country. The part about preventive education sessions caught my eye — smart to include that. Hope some of the teens from Pittsburgh area made it over; our youth group always talks about wanting more roots trips like this.

Good thing they put on craft workshops and traditional music, that stays in their hearts more than any lesson. I'm glad that they also reached preventive education, something like that is needed at that age. One of my nieces also went through these camps, because one of them is in Germany and keeps saying that she wants to come to the country next summer.
