Over 120,000 Romanians have the Holy Martyr Radu Brâncoveanu as their spiritual protectortranslated

Saint Radu from the martyr family of Saint Constantin Brâncoveanu is the spiritual protector of 120,845 Romanians, according to the data of the General Directorate for the Registration of Persons.
Among them, 28,557 are women with the names Rada (28,535), Rădița (16) and Răduța (6). Out of the total number of 92,288, the most common male first name is Radu (88,103), followed by Răducu (4,185).
The calendar of the Romanian Orthodox Church does not mention another saint named Radu.
Saint Radu Brâncoveanu Radu, born around 1690, was the third son of Ruler Constantin Brâncoveanu and one of the martyrs of the family.
In 1714, when he was arrested, together with his father and brothers, he was going to marry Maria Cantemir, the daughter of the former lord of Moldavia, Antioh Cantemir.
The preparations for this marriage took place even in the months that preceded the assassination of Constantin Brâncoveanu. Domnița Bălașa was in Constantinople in connection with the preparation of Radu's wedding, and Brâncoveanu had sent gifts to Portia for the approval of the marriage.
