Pilgrimage to Gura Humorului: The relics of Saint John the New from Suceava will be takentranslated

The relics of Saint John the New from Suceava will be taken on pilgrimage to the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God, known as the Cathedral of Gura Humorului.
The casket with the honorable relics will be received on Monday, October 19, at 9:00 p.m. During the night, the Vigil Service and Holy Liturgy will be performed.
The faithful will be able to worship the holy relics until 05:00, when the reliquary will be taken on pilgrimage to other churches in the diocese.
The relics of St. John the New from Suceava They were brought in 1402 by Alexander the Good, to mark the recent recognition of the Metropolitanate of Moldavia by the Ecumenical Patriarchate (1401), during the period when Moldova stretched from the Carpathians to the Dniester and consolidated its position at the mouths of the Danube.
For almost a century, between 1686 and 1783, the relics of the saint stayed outside the country, being taken by the Polish army together with the treasury of the Metropolis and St. Jer. Dosoftei, the Metropolitan of Moldova, who moved to the eternal ones in Jolkiew, today in Ukraine.
The relics of St. John the New from Suceava were returned in 1873 to the fortress of Suceava by Emperor Joseph II of Austria, at the request of Bishop Dosita Herescu of Bucovina,...
