The Ecumenical Patriarch at the dedication of the only Romanian church in Istanbul: We honor the memory of the Holy Martyr Paraschevitranslated

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I presided over the Holy Liturgy on Sunday on the occasion of the dedication of the Romanian Church "Holy Pious Martyr Paraschevi" in Istanbul. "With the certainty of this life and of the common resurrection, we honor the memory of St. Parascheva, who suffered martyrdom for her faith in Christ", emphasized His Holiness.

Patriarch Bartholomew I was greeted by His Eminence Father Stefan, Metropolitan of Callipole and Madytos. The sermon was delivered by Archimandrite Epiphanie, servant of the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

His Holiness spoke about the sacrifice of martyrs and confessors of the faith, stressing that persecutions against Christians continue even today.

"For their faith in the Risen Lord, innumerable martyrs were led to death, from the Apostles to the Holy Pious Martyr Paraschevi, whose holy commemoration we commemorate here with the grace of God," said the Ecumenical Patriarch.
