His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel sent a message on Monday at the opening of the World Congress of Syriac Studies and the International Conference of Arab Christian Studies, which takes place from August 3-7 at the Palace of the Parliament in Bucharest.
The message was read by His Eminence Father Nifon, Archbishop of Târgoviște, Honorary Metropolitan and Patriarchal Exarch. The Patriarch of Romania highlighted the historical links between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Patriarchate of Antioch, recalling the decisive contribution of the Romanian Countries to the development of the Orthodox printing in the Arabic language.
"Arabic books printed with Romanian support opened a new path, with an unsuspected impact in the Levantine world. They contributed to the maintenance of Christianity of Byzantine origin in the Arabic-speaking lands under Ottoman rule, cultivated the literary Arabic language and enriched Christian Arab literature."
