His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel consecrated the reliquary with the relics of Saint Evloghia from Samurcășești on Friday. At the service held in the historical "St. M. Mc. Gheorghe" Chapel, His Beatitude highlighted the saint's mission to preserve the true faith.
"The Holy Pious Martyr Evloghia shows the important role of lay believers, monks and nuns in preserving and confessing the true faith in difficult times, of soul dryness, of secularization," said Father Patriarch Daniel.
The Patriarch of Romania recalled that Saint Evloghia was part of the "Miron the Patriarch" Missionary Association, testifying to the Orthodox faith in the communities of Muntenia.
"He gave speeches where people were very passionate because of alcohol, because they no longer went to church. He called them to church, he also took care of the children whom he was preparing to learn the Orthodox faith. He carried out this activity even after the arrival of the communist regime in Romania."
