The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church emphasized that monastics should not doubt the correctness of their chosen path or express dissatisfaction with their decision. As a spiritual guide, he suggested turning to the life of St. Sergius. “Never in his life should a monastic think or speak like this,” said the patriarch, referring to his regrets about accepting monasticism.
According to Kirill, even the modest spiritual works of a monk can bring significant benefits not only to the people around him, but also to the whole country. This is precisely what, in his opinion, the life path of Sergius of Radonezh testifies to. The Patriarch also noted that the example of the saint should serve as a source of inspiration for government officials.
