Patriarch Kirill warned against climbing the career ladder at others' expensetranslated

September 16, 2026 · 1 min read

If a person wants to climb the career ladder and get a higher salary but has to push someone else aside, they need to understand that this won't work. There might be some short-term results and temporary consolation, but eventually, this will lead to misfortune, Patriarch Kirill said on September 15, 2026 after the service in the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral near Moscow City Duma.

The Church's hierarch emphasized that "the path to a bright future cannot lie through crime, sin, and especially through sacrificing someone for our own well-being."

In this context, the First Hierarch wished that "such moral and spiritual foundations, which arise from God's word, would shape personal, family, and public moral consciousness."

— Only then can we truly, relying on divine help as well, build our personal, family, and state life, which will be a blessing for both the people and ourselves, Patriarch Kirill concluded.
