Patriarch Kirill donated a particle of the relics of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky to the church at the Moscow City Dumatranslated

A particle of the relics of the blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky was donated to the church of the same name on the territory of the historical building of the New Catherine Hospital at the Petrovsky Gate, now part of the Moscow City Duma building complex, by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill.

The transfer of the shrine took place on September 15, 2026 during the celebrations on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the founding of the church in honor of the blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, the website Patriarchia.ru reports.

“Your Holiness, allow me on behalf of the deputies of the Moscow City Duma, the staff of the Apparatus, and the parishioners to thank you for the transfer of a piece of the holy relics of the blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky to our church, the church at the Moscow City Duma,” Chairman of the Moscow City Duma Alexey Shaposhnikov thanked the Primate of the Church.

He noted the symbolism of the transfer of the shrine in the year of the 150th anniversary of the church and the 10th anniversary of the Patriarchal blessing for its restoration.

Along with a particle of the relics of St. Prince Alexander Nevsky, the church was also presented with an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
