Patriarchate of Jerusalem: Archimandrite Ioustinos Mamalos falls asleep in the Lord

The Patriarchate of Jerusalem has announced with deep sorrow the passing of Archimandrite Ioustinos Mamalos, a member of the Brotherhood of the Holy Sepulchre, who devoted much of his life to the restoration of the Holy Shrine of Jacob’s Well and the construction of the Church of Saint Photini the Samaritan Woman in Nablus, Samaria.
Archimandrite Ioustinos fell asleep in the Lord on Thursday, October 1, 2026, following a prolonged illness, leaving behind an important spiritual and ecclesiastical legacy closely associated with one of the Holy Land’s historic Christian pilgrimage sites.
According to the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the late Archimandrite dedicated many years of his ministry to the extensive restoration, maintenance and preservation of the Monastery of Jacob’s Well, guided by his deep faith and love for Holy Zion and the sacred shrines of the Holy Land.
His longstanding service was particularly associated with the comprehensive renovation of the pilgrimage site and the construction of the Church of Saint Photini the Samaritan Woman.
