Patriarch of Serbia presided over the Divine Liturgy at St. Sava Theological School

On September 1, 2026, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia presided over the Divine Liturgy at the Theological School of St. Sava in Belgrade.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the service of the Blessing of Waters and the Invocation of the Holy Spirit was also performed for the start of the new school year. On this occasion, the Patriarch delivered an address in which he gave his paternal blessing for the coming school year and extended greetings to all the professors, staff, and students of the Theological School. The Patriarch noted that faith in Christ is the foundation and basis of our existence. Outside of faith in God, he said, many realities are products of human ingenuity, but outside of faith in Christ there is neither the love of God nor the fullness of our existence. Addressing the students of the St. Sava Theological School, the Patriarch emphasized that the Lord has blessed certain individuals with a special calling. The choice to enroll in the Theological School is, in itself, a mystery of God, granted to certain people so that they may serve the Divine Liturgy and the Mystery of Christ, the Patriarch stressed.
