Patriarch of Serbia: Let us transform ourselves through the Gospel

On Sunday, June 21, 2026, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral Church of the Holy Archangel Michael in Belgrade.
Following the Gospel reading, the Patriarch reflected on the beauty of God’s creation, noting that no human work can compare to the beauty of nature created by God. He emphasized that Christians are called to glorify the Creator by participating in and reflecting that divine beauty.
Patriarch Porfirije stressed that when people choose Christ and strive to live according to the Gospel, their minds and hearts are enlightened through the grace of the Holy Spirit. “When our mind is illumined and permeated by the grace of the Holy Spirit, everything within us becomes enlightened and sanctified,” he said.
He further urged the faithful to remain steadfast in their commitment to the Lord and not to shape their lives according to principles that are foreign to the Gospel.
“If we have chosen the Lord, let us not adopt as our own the principles and rules of life that are contrary to the Gospel,” the Patriarch remarked, calling on believers to be transformed by Christ and become authentic witnesses of His light in the world.…
