Patriarch of Moscow congratulated Patriarch of Antioch on his name day

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow sent a congratulatory message to Patriarch Ioannis X of Antioch and All the East on the occasion of his name day, celebrated on September 26, 2026.

In his message, Patriarch Kirill praised the Primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church for his pastoral ministry and his dedication to the faithful amid the difficulties facing the region.

Referring to Saint Ioannis the Theologian, the heavenly patron of Patriarch Ioannis X, Patriarch Kirill highlighted the example of faith set by the Apostle and Evangelist.

“Looking to the example of faith set by the Apostle and Evangelist Ioannis the Theologian, your heavenly patron, you diligently carry out the lofty and responsible ministry of Primate of the ancient Church of Great Antioch,” he stated.

He also described Patriarch Ioannis X as a wise and compassionate shepherd to his long-suffering flock, noting that through his personal example, he teaches the faithful to live “in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him” (Colossians 1:10).
