Patriarch of Jerusalem visits Monastery of Saint Gerasimos, praises progress of restoration works

Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem paid an inspection visit to the Monastery of Saint Gerasimos (Deir Hajla) on Wednesday, September 30, to assess the progress of ongoing restoration and maintenance works.

During his visit, the Patriarch reviewed the monastery’s daily operations and inspected the restoration and repair works currently underway. He also met with staff, workers and a representative of the monastic community.

According to a statement issued by the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, Patriarch Theophilos expressed his satisfaction with the progress achieved in restoring and developing the historic monastery.

He also thanked the Palestinian authorities for their continued support of the Patriarchate’s restoration efforts and their contribution to safeguarding the monastery’s properties.

In particular, the Patriarch expressed his appreciation for the authorities’ efforts to protect the monastery’s land and real estate from potential encroachments and other threats.

The visit highlighted the Patriarchate of Jerusalem’s ongoing efforts to preserve its monastic heritage and protect its ecclesiastical properties.
