On July 13, 2026, the Orthodox Apostolic Church of Georgia honors the memory of the Holy Twelve Apostles and celebrates Svetitskhovloba, the feast of the Patriarchal Cathedral of Svetitskhoveli.

The feast was celebrated with special splendor and spiritual joy at the Patriarchal Cathedral of Svetitskhoveli, which is dedicated to the Holy Twelve Apostles.

The festal Divine Liturgy was led by the Catholicos-Patriarch Shio of Georgia.

Members of the Holy Synod concelebrated, along with the deputy dean of the Cathedral and other clergy.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a procession took place around the church. The Patriarch then addressed the congregation with a fatherly homily and wished everyone well on this great feast.

The speech of the Patriarch of Zion is good, especially as he reminds us that love must also be towards one's neighbor in order to be true. Svetishoveli always reminds me how beautifully Georgia connects faith with everyday life. Happy birthday everyone!

Yes, I agree with Panagiotis, the reminder of love for one's neighbor is the most essential part of the speech. I have only seen Svetishoveli in photographs, but I understand how it connects faith with the everyday life of the people there. Happy birthday!

Thanks for the article. I especially remember how the Patriarch said that there must be love for one’s neighbor, otherwise it is not real. Just last week we were doing the same thing with our children in Sunday school. I always imagine Svetitskhoveli to be so majestic, even from photographs.
