Good to see the Patriarch pushing for this. We had a blood drive after liturgy last year and it was straightforward – just turned up, gave a pint, had a cup of tea. Anyone local thinking of going?

Yeah, our parish did one last spring too. The line moved fast, they had cookies after, and I felt wiped for the rest of the day but it was worth it. Might sign up again if they set another date.

Yes, it really is that simple – I went to the one at our parish hall last spring and was in and out in under an hour. Did you end up giving regularly after that, or was it a one-off?

Here in Olomouc, we also had a collection after the liturgy two years ago, it was quick, but I felt that I had less strength the whole day. Good idea from the patriarch, I might go again if they do it again here.

Here in Timișoara, we had a similar action two years ago after work, my husband also came. It took less than 40 minutes, but he was a bit tired at work the next day. It's good that the Patriarch mentioned, maybe we can do one in our parish.

In Zahle, we did a similar thing three years ago after Mass. My daughter came with me and the procedure was very fast, but the second day I felt tired while threading. The Patriarch's idea is good. Maybe they will do it with us again.

Our parish ran one a couple months back too. The cookies were decent but nothing beats the feeling of knowing it might help someone in hospital the next week. Did they give you any tips on eating beforehand so you don’t feel so wiped out?

Our parish did one last year and I brought my homemade Anzac biscuits – they went fast. I always have a proper breakfast with eggs and toast beforehand like you said, otherwise I’m good for nothing the rest of the day. Did your group end up with many first-time donors?
M
Margaret Collins
Our group had about a dozen first-timers, which was great to see. I always pack a couple of hard-boiled eggs too, just in case the toast wears off. What kind of turnout did your parish get?

In Olomouc it sounds practical, at least it was right after the liturgy. I donated for the last time last fall in Liberec, and I was also tired then, but it passed by the evening. If they repeat it at your place, let them know, maybe we can make an agreement.

Our parish had a solid turnout too, around 25 folks showed up including a few new faces from the youth group. I bring cheese sticks along with my eggs because the protein really helps me bounce back. Did any of your first-timers stick around for the coffee afterward?
G
George Smith
Our group had about 15 this time, which felt decent for a weekday. I usually pack a couple of hard-boiled eggs too, but the cheese sticks sound smarter for a quick boost. Did any of those new youth kids end up chatting over coffee?
