Pastoral trip to Ust-Bolsheretsky districttranslated

September 5, 2026 · 1 min read

With the blessing of Archbishop Theodore of Petropavlovsk and Kamchatka, at the end of August, the pastoral trip of the clergyman of the Cathedral of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, priest Sergius Cheremisin, began to the village of Ozernovsky, Ust-Bolsheretsky district of the Kamchatka Territory.

At the airport, Father Sergius was met by Taisiya Aleksandrovna Furmanova, Deputy Chairman of the Duma of the Ust-Bolsheretsk Municipal District. Immediately upon arrival, priest Sergius visited the Church of St. Basil the Great.

On August 27, the birthday of the former rector of the church, priest Konstantin Litvinov, Father Sergius performed a memorial service for the deceased shepherd and addressed the parishioners with a word. He remembered the main milestones in the life of Father Konstantin.

In his speech, Father Sergius especially noted the merits of Father Constantine in the design and improvement of the church. When he became rector, the church did not yet have a complete roof and much more. Thanks to the efforts of Father Constantine, the church is now in such splendor that even Moscow churches can be compared. Not in every church you will find such extraordinary icons with particles of relics, and it is fully provided with utensils.

It's good they held the panikhida right on Fr. Constantine's birthday. Fr. Sergiy's words about how the roof wasn't even finished when he started, and how he brought in all those relics icons and full set of vessels, really show what one dedicated priest can do. I wonder if there are still parishioners in Ozernovsky who remember those early days.

Yes, it's nice they did the panikhida exactly on Fr Constantine's birthday. Fr Sergiy's point about the unfinished roof when he first came, and how he got the church looking as fine as any in Moscow with those relic icons and complete set of vessels, really sticks with you. I wonder if the parishioners there still keep up the grounds he planted.
