The Mărcuța Parish in Bucharest will host a performance dedicated to Saint Platonida from Argeș on Sunday.

The play "Despina Doamna. Chronicle of a destiny" will be staged starting at 19:00, outdoors, in the courtyard of the former Mărcuta Monastery.

The show is organized by the Protoieria Sector 2 in the Capital, in partnership with the Mărcuța Parish and the Zona Theater Company, in the context of the commemorative year of the holy women of the calendar - myrrh-bearing women, martyrs, monks, wives and mothers.

The production brings into focus the life of Saint Pious Platonida from Argeș, wife of Saint Voivode Neagoe Basarab, canonized last year by the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

The actors Ana Calciu, Bogdan Iacob, Mihai Coadă, Claudia Vasile, Gabriela Bobeș, Cerasela Popescu and Claudia Negroiu are part of the cast. The scenography is signed by Ana Calciu and Daniel Bucur, and the direction belongs to Daniel Bucur.

Public access is free. The organizers invite those interested to participate in the show held in the historical setting of the former Mărcuta Monastery.
