October, 19 – 20, 2024 – Parish Festivities / Parish Celebration
On Saturday, October 19th, and Sunday, October 20th - the day of remembrance of St. Jonah Hankouska - His Eminence Bishop Luke of Syracuse, vicar of the Eastern American Diocese, arrived at our parish from Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville. His Eminence's visit was timed to coincide with the patronal feast of the parish - the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos - which took place the previous Monday.
His Eminence led the All-Night Vigil on Saturday evening and the Divine Liturgy on Sunday morning, co-served by Archimandrite. Theophylact (Clapper-deVella; resident of the Holy Trinity Monastery), archpriest. Grigory Naumenko (parish rector), Protodeacon Andrei Strapko, deacons Nathan Reff and Stefan Prokopenko (clergy of our church).
After the small entrance of the Liturgy, the children's choir, under the direction of Alexandra Andreevna Strapko, touchingly sang “Ipolla these, Despota.”
At the end of the service, Bishop Luke delivered a sermon on the topic of the Gospel reading, and also emphasized that the church is a refuge from all the evil and chaotic that is happening in this world.
