Working parents raising their children alone could receive at least three more days of holiday. The proposal was adopted by the Senate on Monday, to be debated by the Chamber of Deputies as the decision-making body.

The draft law proposes to amend article 147 of the Labor Code, which grants this right to special categories of workers: people who work in harmful or dangerous conditions, the blind or those with any other form of disability, and young people under 18 years of age.

This approach aims to include employees from single-parent families in the category of employees who benefit from this facility.

According to Agerpres, in the reasoning provided by the initiators of the law, it is shown that the granting of additional days of leave is not a privilege, but "recognition of a de facto inequality and compensation of an additional burden assumed exclusively by the single parent".

According to the official result of the vote, 85 senators voted to adopt the proposal, while 22 abstained.
