Father Teofil Părăian passed to eternal life 17 years ago, being buried at Sâmbăta de Sus Monastery.

Ioan, after his baptismal name, was born blind and attended a primary school for the blind in Cluj-Napoca, between 1935 and 1940. Until 1948, he continued his studies at a high school for the blind in Timișoara.

The concern for religious life and for the deepening of theological knowledge led him to attend the courses of the Faculty of Theology in Sibiu, between 1948 and 1952.

The path of monasticism On April 1, 1953, he decided to enter the community of Brâncoveanu Monastery from Sâmbăta de Sus. After four months, he was ordained a monk on the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and received the name Theophilus, a Greek word that translates as "lover of God".

After seven years as a monk, also on the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, father Teofil was ordained hierodeacon by Metropolitan Nicolae Colan, and on May 13, 1983, he was ordained hieromonk by Metropolitan Antonie Plămădeala. It was also then that he received ordination as a priest.
