Father Nicu Moldoveanu, professor, composer, conductor and Byzantine musicologist, was led on Thursday on his last earthly journey.
The funeral service was officiated at the "Sfântul Elefterie"-Nou Church, Patriarchal Chapel, in Bucharest by the Patriarchal Vicar Bishop Varlaam Ploieșteanul. At the same time, professors from the "Justinian Patriarhul" Faculty of Orthodox Theology from Bucharest, as well as other guests and numerous clerics who were his students, participated.
The hierarch read the condolence message of His Beatitude Father Patriarch Daniel.
"His scientific research activity remains a work of reference in Romanian Byzantine musicology. He published dozens of volumes, critical studies, editions of musical texts and monographic medallions dedicated to the great Romanian protopsalts and church composers," His Beatitude said.
"His psaltic and choral creations have entered the living practice of parish and monastery pews for decades, being appreciated for their fidelity to the authentic Byzantine tradition, but also for their warm beauty, accessible to Romanian believers."
