Father Metropolitan Irineu and thousands of believers paid respect to the Protector of the Citadel of Craiova, Saint Demetrius, the Fountain of Peace, at the traditional processiontranslated

With the blessing and in the presence of His Eminence Father Dr. Irineu, the Archbishop of Craiova and the Metropolitan of Oltenia, thousands of Craiova residents, priests, teachers, soldiers, students, seminary students and military students participated on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in the traditional procession with the Holy Relics, organized on the occasion of the feast of the Holy Great Martyr Demetrius, the Fountain of Peace, the Protector Craiova Municipality and the Metropolitan Cathedral.

The event began at 4:00 p.m., with the celebration of Vespers united with the Litany, celebrated at the Metropolitan Cathedral, followed, from 6:30 p.m., by the solemn procession through the central streets of the city. At the head of the procession was His Holiness Father Metropolitan Irineu, who blessed the gathered crowd and addressed a word of instruction to all those present:

"The feast of Saint Demetrius brings us together in a Christian way of thinking and feeling. The feast has already begun with the Vespers service, which we performed in the Metropolitan Cathedral and continues with this procession, when we go out on the streets of the city with the Holy Relics, the Way of the Saints, of those who have pleased God.
