Prikhody.ru 09/18/2026. A prayer service before the icon of the Mother of God “The Burning Bush” was held on her memory day, September 17, on the site of the once destroyed church consecrated in honor of the icon of the Most Holy Theotokos “The Burning Bush” in the village of Russkaya Zhuravka (Voronezh diocese).

The rector of the Church of the Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki, priest Oleg Martynenko, the head of the rural settlement, Galina Kortunova, parishioners and employees of the village fire department held a religious procession to the place of prayer, reports the website of the Rossoshan diocese. After the service, all those present congratulated the fire service employees on the day of the heavenly patroness - the “Burning Bush” has been considered the patroness of firefighters from time immemorial.

The church in honor of the Burning Bush icon of the Mother of God in the Russkaya Zhuravka settlement was built in 1910 and destroyed in 1936. MTS workshops and shops in the center of Russkaya Zhuravka are made of brick. A worship cross was erected on the site of the church in 2007. Since then, on the day of veneration of the icon of the Mother of God “The Burning Bush,” villagers traditionally perform a religious procession and prayer singing.
