On July 12, 2026, on the 6th Sunday after Pentecost, the day of remembrance of the glorious and all-praised supreme apostles Peter and Paul, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the historical imperial Cathedral of the Apostles Peter and Paul of the Peter and Paul Fortress St. Petersburg. This day has always been especially celebrated in the northern capital of Russia, because this city was named in honor of the Supreme Apostle Peter, and special worship was given to him here. It was no coincidence that the first emperor also bore the name Peter. Of course, in many ways it was the name of the emperor that led to the fact that the capital was dedicated to the memory of the Apostle Peter.

All these circumstances associated with the origin and comprehensive strengthening of church life here, on the banks of the Neva, with the creation of the Northern capital, are a very important page in our national and church history, history...

Pamatuji si, jak jsme s manželem před lety stáli v tom Petropavlovském chrámu a dívali se na hroby těch carů. A teď čtu, jak patriarcha mluví o tom, že paměť té moci „pohyne s šumem“ – to mi docela rezonuje. Je dobré, že se tam aspoň liturgie slouží dál.

Po mendoj për ato varre të carëve që përmend Jan Novák – kur shërbejmë në kishë, shohim se sa shpejt kalon fuqia e njerëzve. Patriarku foli mirë, por ajo që mbetet është Liturgjia që vazhdon të bëhet aty, siç bëhet edhe te ne në Gjirokastër.

Спомних си как преди години водех група от училище на екскурзия в Петропавловската крепост и стояхме точно пред тези царски гробове. Патриархът добре каза за паметта на властта, че „погибе с шумом“ – човек вижда колко бързо остава само камък и имена. А Литургията продължава, това е най-важното.

Yeah, that line about the memory of power perishing with a noise really hits when you stand in front of those Romanov tombs like Jan and Sergei described. I remember visiting the cathedral a few years back on a hike through Petersburg and thinking the same — all that imperial pomp, now just stone and names. Glad the Liturgy keeps going there anyway, same as at our youth group here.

Био сам там пре две године на екскурзији, стајао сам баш испред оних царских гробова Романових као и Jan Novák. Да, Сергей, точно подметил про шум и камень. Я в том же соборе был в 2018-м, как раз после службы у Романовых постоял — тишина такая, что даже эхо от шагов слышно. А в нашей воскресной школе на Литургии, кстати, тоже всегда спокойно и по делу, без лишнего. В какое время года ты туда заезжал?

Да, Тимофей, в том соборе действительно тишина особенная — помню, как в 2019-м осенью туда попала, листья уже желтели, а внутри только свечи потрескивают. У нас в екатеринбургской воскресной школе тоже без суеты, дети тихо стоят. А ты часто в Питер ездишь или больше по местным храмам?

Да, Наталья, в Петропавловском соборе действительно такая тишина, что даже свечи слышно. У нас в Самаре в воскресной школе тоже дети стараются не шуметь, особенно на Литургии. А в каком году ты в Екатеринбурге школу посещала с детьми?
