Pilgrims of the Krasnoyarsk Metropolis attended celebrations in Irkutsktranslated

On September 6, Irkutsk hosted celebrations that united citizens and guests from different parts of Siberia - the days of Russian spirituality and culture “The Shining of Russia”. Pilgrims of the Krasnoyarsk Metropolis took part in festive events dedicated to the day of remembrance of the second discovery of the relics of St. Innocent of Irkutsk and the stay of the right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimythous. The trip took place with the blessing of Metropolitan Nikita of Krasnoyarsk and Achinsk.

The delegation of the Krasnoyarsk Metropolis was headed by: from the Krasnoyarsk diocese - the rector of the churches of John the Baptist and the Righteous Joachim and Anna, Archpriest Nikolai Shi-ke-min; from the Kansk diocese - rector of the Church of the Holy Blessed Matrona of Moscow in the village of Zaledeevo, Hieromonk Hilarion (Kalinin). The group, numbering more than 40 people, included representatives of the Society of Orthodox Entrepreneurs, the Union of Orthodox Women, and parishioners of churches in Krasnoyarsk and Kansk.

On the day of the holiday, an open-air Divine Liturgy was held on the site of the destroyed Kazan Cathedral, led by five bishops. Then a religious procession of many thousands took place with the relics of St. Innocent of Irkutsk and the right hand of St. Spyridon of Trimifunt. The pilgrims prayed...

Our group from Wichita would have loved to join that cross procession — over 40 pilgrims from Krasnoyarsk and Kansk sounds like a real family affair. I especially noticed Father Nikolai Shchemin and Hieromonk Ilarion (Kalinin) leading it; may God grant them strength after such a long trip. The open-air Liturgy on the site of the old Kazan cathedral must have been something to see.
