I remember that story how they repaired the reactor in hellish conditions with the huge doses of radiation. Many boys died afterwards, but they saved the ship. May their memory be eternal.

Yes, Nicolae, that story with the manually repaired reactor in the hot compartment is shocking. They entered in turn, 10-15 minutes each, received their dose for life. Some died within a few months, others lived with severe consequences. Eternal remembrance to them and let us pray for their repose.

Yes, that's right, that compartment was a radioactive furnace. It stuck in my head how the engineer Nikolai Zateyev sent the volunteers with a single oxygen tube between them so they wouldn't suffocate before finishing the welding. Prayers for all, that they saved the ship and the others at their cost.
