Qualifying round of the X Afanasiev intellectual tournament among pupils of Sunday schools of the Brest district deanerytranslated

On October 3, 2026, at the Sunday school of the parish of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Brest, the qualifying round of the X Afanasiev intellectual tournament was held among students of Sunday schools of the Brest regional deanery.

In 2026, the tournament is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

35 students from all Sunday schools in the deanery took part in the qualifying round.

Responsible for religious education and catechesis in the Brest regional deanery, Priest Sergius Shubin addressed teachers of Sunday religious schools and students with a welcoming speech and spoke about the goals of the intellectual tournament.

The event was also attended by members of the jury: the clergyman of the parish of the Church of the Nativity in Brest, Priest Sergius Voshchenchuk, the rectors of the churches of the Brest regional deanery, and Sunday school teachers.

The event was hosted by high school students from the Sunday school of the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Brest.

Participants in the intellectual tournament were asked 30 questions, each of which had to be answered within one minute.
