From St. Sava of Serbia and Nemanjić to the great Danube: 10 days in the spiritual heart of Serbiatranslated

The pilgrimage service of the Yekaterinburg diocese invites you to take a 10-day pilgrimage trip to Serbia from September 30 to October 10, 2026.

– “The Land of St. Sava” is not just an excursion trip and not just a visit to monasteries. This is a journey through spiritual and historical Serbia,” noted the Pilgrimage Service. –   In 10 days, Ural pilgrims will travel about 2050 km, visit 25 monasteries and churches, see shrines of the 12th–15th centuries, places of life and ministry of the great Serbian theologians of the 20th century, the monastic world of Fruska Gora, medieval fortresses, Roman Viminacium and one of the oldest settlements in Europe - Lepenski Vir.

The head of the Pilgrimage Service of the Yekaterinburg Diocese, dean of the Monastery in the Name of the Royal Passion-Bearers, Hieromonk John (Nevryuev), spoke about the route of the trip:

– Our journey begins in Belgrade, a city at the confluence of the great rivers: the Sava and the Danube. The main shrine of the capital is the majestic Church of St. Sava, erected in the Vracar district, on a site associated with the memory of the burning of the relics of St. Sava of Serbia, the first Archbishop of Serbia. It is here that you understand especially clearly how much the personality of the first Serbian archbishop...
