"The change in the Face of the Lord reminds us that man is not destined to the darkness of sin, nor to the confinement within the limits of a transient existence, but to the light of the Kingdom of God", the Patriarchal Vicar Bishop Paisie Sinait emphasized on Thursday at the Patriarchal Cathedral.

His Eminence explained that the Transfiguration of the Lord does not represent a change in the Person of Christ, but the revelation of His divine glory before the disciples.

"When the Gospel says that the Lord was transfigured before them (Matthew 17, 2), it does not mean that He then became what He had not been before. The Son of God does not receive on Tabor a new glory, nor does He acquire something that He did not have from eternity."

"The light of Tabor illuminates the darkness of Golgotha, and the Cross prevents us from looking at the glory of Christ as a simple manifestation of power. Only together do they discover the full truth of God, Who is love," affirmed the patriarchal vicar bishop.
