Officers were blessed for servicetranslated

In the Church of St. Michael the Archangel in the city of Gomel, a meeting was held with young officers who arrived in the Gomel border group.

On August 21, 2026, at the Worship Cross, the rector of the parish, Archpriest Igor Olshanov, performed a litany for the fallen soldiers. Then the clergyman spoke about the history of the church, gave the officers a tour and blessed them for further service.

During the meeting, Archpriest Igor Olshanov, with the blessing of His Eminence Stefan, Archbishop of Gomel and Zhlobin, presented the head of the ideological work department of the Gomel border group, Lieutenant Colonel Alexey Igorevich Smagin, with the medal of the holy righteous John of Kormyansky.

The award was presented for active participation in the development of interaction between the Gomel Diocese of the Belarusian Orthodox Church and the Gomel Border Group, as well as for work in the field of spiritual, moral and patriotic education of personnel.
