Address by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' on Youth Daytranslated

With the blessing of Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol
celebrations in honor of All-Russian Youth Day
I cordially congratulate you on All-Russian Youth Day.
This holiday is dedicated to young people, on whose energy, talents, knowledge and honest work the future of Russia largely depends. It is you who will have to make decisions that determine the life of the country, preserve and enhance its spiritual and cultural heritage, create strong families and bear responsibility for our Fatherland.
The modern world opens up great opportunities for a person, but in the bustle of everyday life and the cycle of affairs, it is important not to lose the most important thing: the ability to distinguish good from evil, truth from error, and what is temporary and transitory from what has truly eternal value. This most important ability can be preserved when a person tries to follow the voice of conscience, keeping in mind his high destiny.
It is gratifying to note that for many of you, beliefs are expressed not only in words, but also in concrete deeds: through participation in charitable projects, in social and educational services. Such an active position demonstrates maturity and a sincere desire to benefit...
