The Archdiocese of Suceva and Rădăuțil extended on Wednesday the contract by which it makes available to the Vatra Dornei Municipal Hospital free of charge the building where the Infectious Diseases Department of the medical institution operates.

On behalf of the municipality of Vatra Dornei and the hospital, the mayor Marius Rîpan and Dr. Cristian Rusu, medical director, participated in the signing.

The Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuţi was represented by Fr. Viorel Ilișoi, economic adviser and representative of the Romanian Orthodox Church Fund of Bucovina, Fr. Ștefan Mihalcea, counselor at the Media and Communication Sector, and Fr. Andrei Mocanu, adviser at the Philanthropic Social Sector.

The building, located on a plot of land with an area of 2,539 square meters, has been granted free of charge by the Archdiocese since 2014 for the hospital that takes care of the health of the Dornes.

Vital collaboration for the citizens of the region Dr. Cristian Rusu emphasized the importance of the Infectious Diseases Department, thanking the Archdiocese of Suceva and Rădăuți and the local authorities for the support provided.

Councilor Father Andrei Mocanu stated that this agreement highlights the involvement of the Church in solving...

It's good that they extended this agreement, that 2,539 square meter building has been doing good work for the infectious disease department for 10 years. I thank the Archdiocese and Father Andrei Mocanu for coming to the signing, it shows that the Church doesn't just sit at services. I hope they keep this department open, because Vatra Dornei needs it.

It's good that they extended the agreement, 2,539 square meters are not small and it's clear that the infectious disease ward needed them for ten years. I thank Father Andrei Mocanu and the other priests for coming to the signing, it can be seen that the Church is putting its concrete shoulder. I hope that the ward will remain open, because there are still cases in the area.

You're right, Gheorghe, those 2,539 square meters have actually been used for over 10 years. I went to Vatra Dornei two years ago with a neighbor who was hospitalized for infectious diseases and I saw how clean and well maintained the building is. God forbid that the ward doesn't close, because doctor Rusu said it was vital for the area.

Yes, that 2,539 square metres has clearly served the town well since 2014. It's good to see the priests turning up in person instead of just signing papers. Do you know if the infectious diseases ward has had to turn patients away lately?

The 2,539 square metres have definitely helped keep that infectious diseases ward running without extra cost to the town since 2014. Good point about the priests showing up in person; Fr. Andrei Mocanu is the one who usually handles our social projects and he’s practical about these things. Haven’t heard of them turning patients away lately, but I can ask around at church group this week if you want.

Well said, Gheorghe, those 2539 square meters were really put to work in 2014 without costing the hospital a dime. I passed by there last summer when I took some cables to a company in Vatra Dornei and I saw the ambulances going straight into the infectious ones. I hope that the mayor Rîpan and Dr. Rusu find funds to keep this department standing, because otherwise it gets worse for the people of Dorne.

You're right, Gheorghe, that infectious disease ward has really helped many people in the area since the agreement began in 2014. I'm glad that Father Mocanu and the others were present at the signing, it shows that the Church is practically involved. Do you think they could also do a renovation on the bathroom there, I hear it's a bit old?
A
Andreea Matei
Yes, Ioana, the ward has really helped many people from Vatra Dornei and the surrounding villages since then. I also went there with an acquaintance a few years ago and saw how useful it is. As for the bathroom, I think it would be good to ask for more funding through the church funds, maybe they can change it with this extension. How did you hear that it is so old?
I

Yes, the ward was a lifesaver for many, including a neighbor of mine from Craiova who arrived there two years ago with a nasty infection. You're right about the bathroom, it would make sense to ask for funds now for the extension. I read in the article that the building has been used since 2014, so it's not exactly from Cuza's time, but it still deserves renovation.

Yes, Ioana, the ward has been a real blessing to the Dornen since 2014. As for the bathroom, I also heard that it is a bit damaged, but maybe the town hall and the Archdiocese could put it in a rehabilitation project together with the funds from the Ministry of Health. Have you ever been hospitalized there?
M
Mihai Barbu
Yes, Ioana, the ward has really been a great help since it started in 2014, especially during the periods with strong viruses here. As for the bathroom, I know from a neighbor who worked there as an electrician that the installations are from the 80s and would at least deserve a change of tiles and faucets. Do you think it would be better to deal with the city hall or the Archdiocese directly?
M
Maria Munteanu
Yes, my neighbor from Vatra Dornei also stayed there with pneumonia three years ago and escaped thanks to the doctors. The bathroom is really a problem, I saw it when I took flowers to an acquaintance; I hope they use this extension to ask for funding from the County Council. Do you think that the Archdiocese could also contribute something to the renovation?
T
Teodora Popescu
Yes, Mihai, the department helped a lot with those colds in our winters. The bathroom is really old, I also know from an acquaintance who was hospitalized there last year. I think it would be good for the town hall to take care of it, since it is their hospital after all, but the Archdiocese has already shown that it cares. What do you think, is it worth making a joint request?
R
Radu Constantinescu
Yes, the ward was really helpful, especially in winter when all kinds of viruses come from the valley villages. About the bathroom, church funds could solve the problem if a clear request is made now for the extension. What exact diagnosis did you know?
