A section of the Workshops of the Romanian Patriarchate will bear the name of Saint Elisabeta de la Pasăreatranslated

July 11, 2026 · 1 min read

The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church approved, in the working session of July 2, 2026, the request of the Biblical and Orthodox Mission Institute that the Section of the Workshops of the Romanian Patriarchate at the Pasărea monastery in Ilfov should bear the name "Saint Elisabeta from Pasărea".

The request was made at the initiative of Blessed Father Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Saint Elisabeta from Pasărea worked, during the period 1990-1996, at the Carving Section of the Workshops of the Romanian Patriarchate at the Pasărea Monastery, in the same building where this obedience is still carried out today. It is the only working point of the Workshops of the Romanian Patriarchate that still operates in its original location. Priestly vestments are also made at the monastery.

The Chancellery of the Holy Synod conveyed in the report submitted to the attention of the hierarchs that the attribution of the name "Saint Pious Elizabeth of the Bird" is a gesture of gratitude towards the saint and a spiritual strengthening for the nuns who work within the section.

I liked that they named the building where Sf. worked. Elisabeta from '90 to '96. It is good that it still remains in its original place, unlike many others. A living memory of the nuns who sew there today.

I am glad that the very section where St. Elizabeth worked from 1990 to 1996 in a building that still stands in its place was named in her honor. It’s good that the nuns who sew the vestments there will pass by such a living reminder every day. Thanks for the article.

It's good that they chose the chiseling section where Saint Elizabeth worked between '90 and '96, in the building that remained in place. It's a good sign for the mothers sewing clothes there now. Thanks for the article.

I’m glad, Irina, that you noted these very years - from 1990 to 1996. In our church in Krasnodar, too, one grandmother sewed vestments in almost the same workshop where her mother used to work, and she says that every time she takes a needle in her hand, she remembers how the saint sat there. I wonder if you were in Pasar itself or just read the articles?
