A parish in Great Britain helps children to get to know their Romanian roots bettertranslated

"St. George the Pilgrim" Parish, Milton Keynes 2, Great Britain, inaugurated an educational project entitled "My Romanian Roots", dedicated to Romanian children and teenagers growing up in the United Kingdom.
The project was conceived as an educational course structured in ten meetings under the motto "10 journeys. One story: Romania". Each meeting is dedicated to essential elements of Romanian heritage and identity.
The thread that unites the ten meetings is the "Romanian Heritage Passport". Each child builds their own passport during the project, and at the end of each chapter they receive a "visa", which marks the journey they have made.
The first meeting of the project took place at the end of last week in the church's activity room and brought together more than 30 children between the ages of 7 and 16.
According to the initiators, the program starts from a natural reality for Romanian families in the diaspora: children grow up between two cultural spaces. For many of them, Romania is the country of their parents or grandparents, the place of vacations and stories heard at home.
