Interesting topic. I’ve always wondered how the very first icons were made and what the earliest rules were. Might try to catch one of those “Духовные беседы” sessions if they put the talks online.

Good idea for "Духовные беседы" in Pskov. I have always been interested in how the first images began, especially after the era of persecution. If they put the speeches online, I will also watch them from Larissa.

I remember reading that the very first icons were often painted right on the walls of the catacombs after the persecutions ended. It would be good to hear exactly how those early painters decided what could and couldn’t be shown. Hope they record the talks so we don’t have to drive all the way to Pskov.

Good idea yes Maria, I too would like to know more about that early period after the persecutions. I had read something about the icons in the Roman catacombs but questions always remain. If they put them online, tell me to watch them together from Thessaloniki and Larissa?

An interesting topic, especially about those first icons in the catacombs after the persecution. I also read that they painted on the walls there, but I always wanted to know who exactly decided what could be depicted and what could not. If they record the conversations, I will definitely listen, maybe even with my son.

I, too, always had a question about the catacombs: how did they decide who to paint first - Christ or the saints? It’s a pity that such conversations don’t happen often in Yaroslavl, but if they record them, I’ll definitely listen to them with my daughter.

Iryna, it's interesting that you mentioned the catacombs in particular - the first images there were really simple, like the "Good Shepherd" or a fish. But who exactly decided the canons, it seems that in the beginning it was done jointly by the bishops and the community, without strict rules. If they record it, I'll listen to it too, maybe together with my daughter in the evening over tea. Do you and your son often listen to this?
