On the night of July 16-17, 2026, a traditional religious procession dedicated to the memory of the holy Royal Passion-Bearers took place in Izhevsk. This event brings together hundreds of Izhevsk residents who want to honor the memory of the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II and his family, who suffered martyrdom in the basement of the Ipatiev House on the night of July 17, 1918. For many years now, the night route has been for the Izhevsk diocese not just a tribute to memory, but a living spiritual tradition. From year to year, covering kilometers, the parishioners seem to be retracing their last earthly journey with the Royal Family, participating in their feat of the cross. The solemn procession began with a prayer service in the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, after which the participants proceeded through the streets of the city to the Church of the Holy Royal Martyrs at the Northern Cemetery. At the end of the procession, a night Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the open air at the newly installed monument to Nicholas II, led by Metropolitan Victorin of Izhevsk and Udmurtia. In his speech to the believers, the Bishop noted the tragedy of this night for Russia and drew a deep spiritual parallel between the sacrifice of the Royal Family and the subsequent trials of the country.
