A ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the formation of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia was held in Belgorod. The event was attended by employees and veterans of the service, as well as honored guests. The Head of the Belgorod Metropolis, Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, addressed the audience with words of congratulations and gratitude.
The Bishop began his speech with a historical excursion, emphasizing that concern for road safety has deep roots in Russia. He recalled that the first act on road traffic was issued under Empress Elizabeth Petrovna in 1754, when right-hand traffic was established in the country. These traditions, according to the Bishop, are continued today by employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate: “You are the bearers of those traditions that have developed in the process of regulating technical progress.”
